Costs incurred due to extension of the study period
The course fees are charged for the normal duration of the course and students have to complete their respective courses within this duration.

  • 2 years (+3 Months grace period) for UNIGIS MSc. Programme
  • 1 year (+3 Months grace period) for UNIGIS Professional Programme

In case students do not complete all the requirements of their course within this period, the course gets terminated at the completion of the normal duration and no further mentoring and assessment services are provided. However, students can continue their studies by applying for an extension of the study period subject to an additional fee. The additional fee for each calendar month is 15 % of the current applicable annual fee.

Additional costs
Additional costs incur to you due to:

  • Communication during the study time (e.g. fax, telephone, Internet)
  • Purchase of hardware and software (see Study Environment for details)
  • Trips to an interview or consultancy during your study, workshops, summer schools, or UNIGIS update conferences

Software used in the compulsory modules is available to the students free of charge during the limited period of study time.

You may want to invest in buying essential (text) books or a dictionary, or attend a seminar on a topic of interest. Your UNIGIS student status will come in handy here as it entitles you to possible discounts on participation fee for seminars offered by UNIGIS partner institutions. Students also receive a 40% discount on all ESRI Virtual Campus modules; many of the Virtual Campus modules are already free for the UNIGIS students.

Financial Support
UNIGIS@Madras University (INDIA) does not provide any financial support to the course participants. However, you may qualify for financial support through your employer, national agencies, or through various scholarships.
